And not Picasso's either. A leaking gallon bottle of blue tempera was waiting to greet me in the art room of Tohoku International School (TIS), where I'll be teaching art K-12, music K-2 and helping with secondary PE.
One of the blessings this season of change brings is deep peace. It seems that, not too long ago, I would have been one to react to the thought of teaching these multiple (and new) subjects with much trepidation, but I'm looking forward to the challenge! It's been fun preparing!
Somehow, cleaning up a leaking bottle of bright blue paint seems more fun than vacuuming, washing windows, or moving boxes. Seeing this one bright color got me excited for seeing student work go up in the room and the halls this year, how color and feeling will be expressed through the skill and creativity of TIS students.
